Since 1969, Arizona Soaring, Inc. has offered a large fleet of sailplanes, professional pilots, and safe, professional service.

We offer introductory flights in several different sailplanes, ranging from training aircraft to high performance racing sailplanes.

For the thrill seeker, aerobatic flights are also available. You'll strap on a parachute and step into the most incredible roller coaster in the world!

Soaring Rides are given over the beautiful Sierra Estrella Mountains where passengers can enjoy views of the undisturbed and natural desert environment. This area is also home to many hawks and other soaring birds so it is an excellent opportunity to see them in their true element. All of our flight staff are FAA certified flight instructors with many years of experience. Impromptu hands-on instruction is possible for those with flying aspirations. Your ride can be as thrilling or as relaxing as you like and for the truly adventurous full-on aerobatic rides are also available.

Your first soaring flight is certain to be an unforgettable experience.

Q: Is it Scary?

Maybe a little at first, but soon it becomes very relaxing and calm. If you are nervous be sure to schedule a flight in the cooler months or early in the day.

Q: Can I take pictures/video?

We now offer a HD video service for a small extra charge. The canopies on the aircraft are very fragile and expensive so a fixed camera mount is the best way to protect both the aircraft and passenger from loose cameras.

Q: Do I need to schedule a flight or can I just show up?

A reservation isn't required but it is preferred.

Q: Do I need to sign paperwork?

Nothing other than a customer survey that tells us how you learned about us and any suggestions you may have.

Q: Are there height or weight limits?

Yes. 240lbs is the maximum for the high performance rides while 230lbs is the limit for the aerobatic rides. Height limits depend upon the person's individual torso or leg proportions. If you're over 6'3" we'll have to evaluate you on the day of your flight.

Q: Are there age requirements?

Yes, generally we do not take any person flying under the age of 10. The physical size of the person is very important as they need to be large enough to adequately fit the seat and seat belts.

Q: Do you take more than 1 passenger?

No, all rides are for 1 passenger only.

Q: When are you open?

We are open every day, all year! Typical hours are 11am-5pm M-F and 9am-5pm Sat-Sun.

Q: How long will we be at the airport?

If you are doing our longest ride(HP Dlx) then you can expect to be here 1hr.

Q: What payments do you accept?

Cash, checks and credit cards(Visa, MC, Discover, AMEX)

Q: Are there restaurants nearby?

Yes! Maricopa is 6 miles away and has several restaurants and fast-food options.

Q: How high do we go on the flight?

Assuming you don't find any thermals your maximum height will be 3000' for the High Performance, 3500' for the Aerobatic and 5000' for the HP Deluxe and Aerobatic Deluxe.
